NATIONAL PURPLE HEART HALL OF HONOR
New York State
Senator William J. Larkin, Jr. sent the following letter dated February
23, 2006, to MG Bowen. Please pass along this information to
your Soldiers, Airmen and to the families of fallen Alabama National
Guard members who were awarded the Purple Heart. A copy
of the senator's letter to MG Bowen will be distributed to all Alabama
Army and Air National Guard units for record and for future
reference.
Dear General
Bowen:
I want to take
this opportunity to make you aware of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor,
which is currently being built in New York's Hudson Valley.
Located just over ten
miles from the United States Military Academy at West Point, the National
Purple Heart Hall of Honor pays tribute to those who were killed or injured
defending this great nation. I respectfully request that you make the
Hall of Honor known to your returning soldiers and airmen, who have earned the
Purple Heart, so that they may record their names and stories in the Hall's
database.
The National Purple
Heart Hall of Honor is scheduled to open on November 11, 2006 and it would be
wonderful to have those citizen soldiers and airmen, who have sacrificed so
much, included in this very worthwhile project. Any servicemember who
has earned a Purple Heart shall be afforded a place in the Hall. They
simply need to send a copy of their DD 214 to the address below:
The National Purple
Heart Hall of Honor
P.O. Box 207

Thank you for
your time and attention to this issue and for your service to your state and
nation. Please feel free to contact my Albany, New York office should
you have any questions on the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor.
(Number is (518) 455-2770)
Sincerely,
Signed:
William J.
Larkin, Jr.
